Yocan is known for its high quality wax pen vaporizers. Today, I’m going to share my experience with the latest product from the brand, the Yocan Evolve Plus XL. The vaporizer offers big hits and is equipped with quad quartz coils. Yocan Evolve Plus is larger than the regular Yocan Evolve and it’s characterized by the built-in silicon jar for storing concentrates. Although the evolve has been on the market since 2016, the Plus model is somewhat new to the industry. It’s very user friendly, but it also gives you very hard hits, which may be inconvenient when paired with the lack of precise control over temperature.
Is the price worth the quality? Will you be as pleased by Yocan as by, say, Dr. Dabber? This review will answer all your questions.
Yocan Dab Pen Lineup
The smaller, but more convenient magnetically connected Yocan Magneto includes:
- (1) Yocan Magneto Ceramic Atomizer
- (1) Yocan Magneto Battery
- (1) Dab tool
- (1) Micro USB cable
- (1) Spare Magneto Ceramic Coil
This vape is great because all of the pieces are magnetically connected, no need for unscrewing threads. The coil is ceramic, with a smaller chamber than the Yocan Evolve Plus XL.

It’s pretty impressive, isn’t it? A full starter pack with some sample concentrates sounds like a good plan to start your experience with Yocan Evolve Plus. Let’s take a peek at the major properties of this vaping unit.
Speaking of the design and build quality, Yocan Evolve Plus is pretty solid and has an eye-catching appeal. The model runs on a single 1100mAh battery, which bolsters the power of hits even more than the traditional Evolve that is equipped with a 650mAh battery. In addition, there is an extra atomizer if you go too hard on the current one.
If you really want to load up your vaporizer, the bowl of Evolve Plus looks very impressive. It’s almost three times as big as the one from the traditional model, with a magnetic cap for the coil that keeps your device cleaner and doesn’t let the mouthpiece get too hot. To wrap it up, Yocan Evolve Plus is a decently made unit that will serve you well for a long period of use.
The vapor quality of Yocan Evolve Plus meets the standards of vaporizers in this price range. After all, dual quartz coil setups are nothing new to the industry, so it’s exactly what you should expect from such a unit.
Unfortunately, this particular model comes with a few drawbacks when it comes to vaping. First of all, there are no airflow adjustments, so even if you’re an experienced cannabis user, you may cough like a rookie after one of the rig-style hits this vaporizer gives you. Furthermore, the vapor may get very harsh, so it’s best to practice some light hits first. I’d recommend holding the power button for up to 5 seconds and pulsing it a bit before inhaling the material.
Portable vaping pens are designed to help people take them on the go. In most scenarios, the Evolve Plus should do its job pretty well, although it’s bulkier than the regular Evolve model.
The battery life is a feature of paramount importance when it comes to portable vaporizers. Yocan Evolve Plus has a pretty strong battery that lasts for around a day or more of intense use. The charging process takes up to two hours, and the model comes with the pass-through charging potential, which definitely works in favor of this vaping unit.
Yocan Evolve Plus is undoubtedly larger and chunkier than most portable vaporizers. While it may be more solid while handling, it will also be less comfortable, so if you’re aiming at buying something smaller and nicer to handle, the Evolve Plus won’t fit the bill. On the other, such a build provides the user with more power and stability, so if you’re ready to sacrifice the convenience for the sake of stronger hits, the Evolve Plus will be your strong go-to.
The device is built similarly to many common e-cigarette units, which makes it fairly discreet to use while outside and among other people. Yocan Evolve Plus works well on shorter draws, so if you can keep the firepower down, keeping it on hand won’t be a problem.
Let’s face it, nobody likes being forced to operate on a complicated device to get high, as there is no logical point in making simple and pleasant activities troublesome – I mean, for what reason? Fortunately, Yocan Evolve Plus is very simple, because you only have to use one control button and a fixed temperature setting. If you’re wondering if you can adjust the temperature in any way, I’m afraid the answer is: no, you can’t. The only thing you can do is keep the power button down to help the coils remain heated.
Apart from this one little imperfection, the Evolve Plus is a solid and simple unit. Another advantage of this high-end vaporizer is the magnetic mouthpiece that snaps into the place immediately. At the very bottom of the device, you will find a nice silicone concentrate container.
So… To Buy Or Not To Buy?
If Hamlet lived in the contemporary times, this would be the question he asked instead of “to be or not to be”. Well, Yocan Evolve Plus is a very decent unit that works well at what it’s supposed to do. It’s perfect for people who are about to start their adventure with wax pens. The model is fairly basic; it comes with only one type of atomizer and has no temperature control whatsoever, so some cannaseurs may consider it too little for such a price. On the other hand, the solid build and the efficient battery make up for that flaws.
Overall, this bulky vaping pen may not give you the experience of other popular units, such as the aforementioned Dr. Dabber Aurora, but it will surely provide you with a decent vaping quality, let alone it may knock a few people out of their shoes for the first time.
