Vaping vs Smoking WeedVaping vs Smoking Weed

Vaping vs Smoking

The vaping vs smoking debate has been ongoing in the tobacco industry for several years now and more recently spilled over into the cannabis community. Vaping is a relatively new method of consuming cannabis, in which weed or distillate is vaporized instead of burned. This vapour is inhaled to produce a high.

So, now it’s time to take at look at which is better in the battle of vaping vs smoking? There are pros and cons to each. It ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Vaping Pros and Cons

Vaping enthusiasts will say that vaping is healthier than smoking. That’s because you avoid inhaling tar and other harmful by-products of the combustion process. Many of the carcinogens found in tobacco, however, which are linked to lung cancer, are also present in the vapour. The long-term health effects of vaping, either tobacco or cannabis, have yet to be firmly established.

What are the pros to vaping?

  • Temperature control. By adjusting the temperature of your vape, you can adjust the effects of the high, anything from a mellow to an intense experience. Many vaporizers have temperature controls, allowing you to experiment to your heart’s content.
  • You don’t need a lighter. Since the heat source required for vaping is built into the device, you’ll never need to hunt down a lighter ever again.
  • Better flavour. By avoiding smoke production, you can get a much cleaner flavour from vaping than you do from smoking. You’re better able to distinguish various terpenes, noticing subtle nuances that were unidentifiable in regular smoking.
  • Discretion. While smoking weed is legal in many areas, there are still social stigmas attached to smoking weed in public. Vaping, especially at low temperatures, produces much less of a distinctive odour, and less smoke as well.

What are the negatives of vaping weed?

They mainly have to do with entry cost and maintaining a device.

  • You need a weed grinder. While you can get away with ripping buds with your hands to smoke weed, you can’t do the same with a vape. Most vape pens require a finely ground extract to effectively vaporize the contents of the plant. You can avoid this issue by using a THC distillate instead.
  • Vaporizers need attention. Firstly, you always have to make sure that your vaporizer is fully charged, otherwise, it won’t work. It’s much easier to ask for a lighter than it is to ask for a vape pen charger. You also must clean and maintain your vaporizer to keep it in top condition. But it’s not hard to maintain a vaporizer if you think of it as a small, additional chore.
  • Costs can be a barrier to entry. Vaporizers and portable vape pens are a large up-front cost, especially if you opt for high-quality devices. Afterward, though, you’ll find refilling your vape pen to be relatively cheap.

Smoking Pros and Cons

In the vaping vs smoking weed debate, there are always going to be some traditionalists that will fight tooth and nail against doing stuff differently. So, are there any advantages, other than tradition, to smoking versus vaping?

Pros:

  • It’s affordable and lower maintenance. All you really need to smoke a joint is rolling papers and a bit of weed, which makes it easy and affordable to do. If you’re feeling fancy, you can spend some money on a bowl or other equipment, but they’re not necessary.
  • It’s tradition, a ritual. Many potheads love the ritual of rolling and smoking their own joints and feel that it’s the best way to experience weed.
  • It gives a more intense high. Smoking releases all the cannabinoids at once, which results in a quick and euphoric high that’s much more intense than what you’ll get from a vape.

Cons:

  • Health concerns. Smoking cannabis isn’t too different from smoking tobacco and comes with many of the same health risks. All plants generate carcinogens when burned, and you’re inhaling those carcinogens directly into your lungs.
  • Strong odour. You can’t really be discreet about smoking a joint. It has a much stronger smell than what you get from vaping and tends to linger for longer, too.

How do you choose between vaping vs smoking ?

Neither method is objectively better than the other, and each has advantages and disadvantages. The method you choose will depend largely on your personal preference. Some people like their weed quick and dirty. Others want to savour the flavour of their weed and enjoy a more mellow high.

Whatever you choose, we have both the vaping equipment and weed you need.
